Sun Damage
This summer we all spent time outdoors soaking up the sun-- and although vitamin D is good, too much sun can cause damage to our skin. While sunscreen is one of the best ways to prevent sun damage, it can sometimes be difficult to remember to use it or reapply as much as needed. But don’t worry-- we have solutions for your skin!
First, let’s talk about what exactly sun damage looks like. Sun damage can cause several different changes to your skin, including wrinkles, age spots, loose skin, spider veins, and a blotchy complexion. This damage builds up over time and can make you look years older than you actually are, which is why we try to do as much as possible to prevent and reverse damage.
At home, there’s plenty of products you can choose to help. Your first line of defense against sun damage is going to be preventing damage before it even happens. Our Ultimate Face Shield contains SPF ingredients such as titanium dioxide and anti-aging ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate and Vitamin C, and antioxidants like arnica and oat protein extracts. To help treat signs of sun damage, we recommend using anti-aging products. These contain ingredients such as antioxidants, peptides, and plant stem cells that can help stimulate collagen production, decrease hyperpigmentation, and help skin look more youthful and rejuvenated.
There are also a variety of treatments that can help reverse and minimize the appearance of sun damage. The effects of these treatments can usually be immediately visible, though you'll need to keep getting them regularly to see even more improvement over time. One of our favorite treatments to help reverse sun damage is our iderm Facial Treatment which rejuvenates, firms and tightens the facial tissues. Photofacial Rejuvenation is another powerful treatment which corrects sun damage, irregular pigmentation and dilated capillaries. Both of these treatments go beneath the surface of the skin to repair and help you achieve a healthy, youthful glow!
