LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy has been quickly gaining popularity, but how exactly do these lights transform skin to give it some serious glow?
Let’s first talk about the origins of LED Light Therapy: it was used by U.S. Navy SEALS in the 1990s, to help heal wounds faster and regenerate damaged muscle tissue. Knowing the power of this treatment for some serious wounds, it makes sense that it can be used to help treat other skin issues as well. The main benefits of LED Light Therapy are that it stimulates collagen production and kills off bacteria-- which can help smooth out skin and reduce inflammation. LED Light Therapy also does not use ultraviolet rays, does not cause burns like other treatments can, and is usually safe for different skin types and tones! This also makes LED Light Therapy great to calm skin after other treatments such as laser or injections.
Different colors of LED light provide different benefits for the skin, as they penetrate skin at different depths. Blue light targets the layer where the sebaceous glands are, making them less active for those with acne-prone skin. It can also kill acne-causing bacteria living in this layer. Red light treats the epidermis (outer layer of skin), stimulating the production of collagen and improving blood circulation, which smooths skin while increasing glow. Pink light is also anti-inflammatory and rejuvenates skin especially after a treatment that can cause some skin redness. LED light therapy masks are available for home use, but professional treatments are much stronger and more effective. We recommend adding 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes of LED Light Therapy to your next Facial Treatment. We are currently taking appointments so request yours today!
