Easy, Painless & Will make You Wonder Why You Didn’t Do It Sooner
I think we’ve all tried multiple different methods to get rid of our unwanted body hair begrudgingly. Most are tedious and time consuming, plus they always grow back what seems to be the next day! We wanted to help our clients break free of this ongoing conundrum which is why we decided to introduce Laser Hair Removal at our West Hollywood location.
Here’s a Laser Hair Removal Q & A with our in-house specialist Eugenia Berchenko, RN:
How does laser hair removal work?
During a laser hair removal session, the energy of the light sheer diode laser penetrates your outer layer of skin to target the pigment in the hair follicles that lie beneath. The heat destroys the follicle so hair can no longer grow.
Laser hair removal effectively reduces 85-90% of hair in a treatment area. As a result of laser hair removal, you can say goodbye to razors, wax, and depilatories.
Where is laser hair removal effective?
Just about anywhere on your body that has unwanted hair can be treated with laser hair removal. This includes your:
• Chin and upper lip
• Underarms
• Bikini line
• Chest and back
• Arms and legs
Men and women benefit from laser hair removal.
How do I prepare for laser hair removal sessions?
Prior to laser hair removal, you can shave, but do not wax or pluck because removing hair from the root makes the laser unable to target the follicle. Avoid the sun for about six weeks prior to your session. Tanned skin doesn’t respond as well to laser hair removal.
How many laser hair removal treatments do I need?
The location and density of your hair and your skin type determine how many sessions you’ll need. Eugenia usually recommends treatments until your hair stops growing, which usually
takes 3-7 sessions. Multiple sessions are necessary because hair grows in cycles. To be effective, the laser must address hair that’s in a growth cycle.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
During a laser hair removal session, you’ll feel warmth and prickling sensations. Most people find the procedure comfortable enough to not need any topical numbing cream. After treatment, you’re offered ice packs to cool your skin.
What downtime is required following laser hair removal?
No downtime is necessary following laser hair removal treatments. You can go right back to your work or school afterward. You have no restriction on activity, either.
Do avoid tanning and sun exposure after laser hair removal. Your skin is temporarily extra sensitive to ultraviolet rays.
It will leave you wondering why you hadn’t thought to do it sooner. Request an appointment with our in-house specialist today!
