Tons of products are advertised as containing antioxidants: food, skin care, and much more. There's a good reason for antioxidants to be used in so many things: antioxidants are extremely important!
Antioxidants are a general name for any substance that can prevent or slow down damage to cells due to free radicals. Free radicals are a waste substance that cells produce as they process food and react to environmental factors, and too many free radicals in the body can lead to oxidative stress, which can harm cells. Your body naturally produces antioxidants, but getting them from other sources is important too! Some examples of antioxidants include Vitamins A, C, and E, lycopene, lutein, and manganese.
Starting from the inside out-- fruits and vegetables are one of the best sources of antioxidants, and be sure to eat lots of different types of fruits and vegetables to get different antioxidants! Generally vibrantly colored fruits and vegetables have high antioxidant contents, like spinach, beets and pomegranates.
Antioxidants can also have powerful benefits when applied topically to the skin. Vitamin C has great results helping to repair damage caused by sun exposure, try our Vitamin C Brightening Serum. There is also evidence that antioxidants can help to restore aging skin as well! Another beneficial antioxidant to look out for is Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) which is found in our Advanced Cell Renewal Moisturizer. Curious about our other products that are high in antioxidants? Try our Hydrating Serum or Ultimate Eye Gel.
